Prasetio has excellent track record in political campaign to win election for candidates."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Secretary of the Jakarta branch of the Indonesian Democrat Party of Struggle (PDIP) Prasetio Edi Marsudi has been named chairman of the campaign team for the pair of Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) and Vice Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat, the incumbent pair to contest the next gubernatorial election in February, 2017.

"I am named chairman of the campaign team for the Ahok-Djarot pair in facing the forthcoming election," Prasetio, a PDIP cadre, who is speaker of the Jakarta City Council, said here on Friday.

He said the structure of the team would be formed soon with more than 50 members.

The Ahok-Djarot pair is nominated by PDIP, Nasdem, Hanura and Golkar to contest the election and retain their jobs as governor and vice governor for the next five-year term.

Coordinator of Golkars election campaign team for Java and Sumatra Nusron Wahid said Prasetio is named chairman of the Ahok-Djarot campaign team as he knew very well complicated political structure of Jakarta.

"Prasetio has excellent track record in political campaign to win election for candidates," Nusron, who earlier held the position before PDIP, which has the largest number of seats at the City Council, joined the coalition supporting Ahok.

Prasetio said the structure of the team would be formed on October 4 at the latest to be registered with the Election Commission that day.

Nusron said he would also help open "command posts" (Posko) for the team in all areas of Jakarta.

"If possible I want every kelurahan in the city has a Posko," he added.

Ahok-Djarot will face the pair of Anies Baswedan-Sandiaga Uno, nominated by the Gerindra party and the Islamic Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), and the pair of Agus Harimuti Yudhoyono- Sylviana Murni nominated by the coalition of Democrat Party, United Development Party (PPP), Nation Awakening Party (PKB) and National Mandate Party (PAN).
