Magelang (ANTARA News) - Thailands Queen, Sirikit, will arrive in Indonesia on an official state visit and will tour the Borobudur temple in Magelang district, Central Java.

"Queen Sirikit will visit Indonesia in November 2016. She will go to the Borobudur temple and the Prambanan temple," Thailands Ambassador to Indonesia, Paskorn Siriyaphan, said when he met the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, in Magelang on Wednesday.

He stated that a large number of Thailands citizens are Buddhists and very interested in visiting Borobudur.

"Many of our citizens are interested in visiting Borobudur, but there are no direct flights to Central Java," Paskorn rued, adding that he hoped a route will open up from Bangkok, Thailand, to Surakarta, Central Java.

Currently, he noted, theres only one route from Bangkok to Jakarta and Bali, Indonesia.

"We are ready to open a flight route from Bangkok to Central Java, but the local governments should be willing to contribute," he stressed.

He also promised to promote a number of attractions in Central Java among the citizens of Thailand.

Ganjar responded by saying that the Central Java Provincial government will conduct bilateral talks with Thailand in the fields of tourism, agriculture and investment.

"We will follow up on the issue of direct flights from Bangkok to Surakarta, because Thailand has a big tourist potential. We understand that 95 percent of Thais are Buddhists," he underlined.
