The crystal meth allegedly came from Malaysia."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - National Narcotics Agency (BNN) dismantles an international drugs distribution network recently by seizing 12,488 grams crystal meth.

"The five perpetrators were at a house in Jalan Sei Putih Baru, Medan, North Sumatera. The crystal meth allegedly came from Malaysia," said BNN Head, Commissioner General Budi Waseso, here on Thursday.

The plan for the arrest was made on October 6 following a two month-long investigation to obtain information about drug trafficking originating from Aceh to Medan.

"BNN monitored two suspects with the initials HAS and BUS. Both allegedly acted as couriers, who brought methamphetamine by a car, from East Aceh to Medan," said Budi.

Both suspects were working under two other actors, namely YO and ZUL as courier guards.

The perpetrators also allegedly acted as a conduit of information about the situation of the road to be traversed, Budi noted.

"On October 7, the four suspects arrived at a house used to store the drugs at Jalan Sei Putih Baru Village Baburah 24, Medan, North Sumatra, provided by the suspect IK," said Budi Waseso.

After the actors moved the crystal meth from the car into the house, BNN officers managed to subdue him.

"From the description of the suspects, it seemed they were planning to distribute crystal meth around Medan," Budi said.

For their actions, the suspects were charged under Article 114 paragraph 2 Jo, Article 132 paragraph 1, Article 112 paragraph 2 Jo and Article 132, paragraph 1 of Law Number 35 Year 2009 on Narcotics, with a maximum penalty of capital punishment.

"With this disclosure BNN has managed to save more than 62,440 inhabitants from the dangers of substance abuse," said Budi.
