Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The All-Indonesia Football Association (PSSI) will hold its congress in Makassar, South Sulawesi Province, on Monday (Oct 17) to elect its new chairman.

The PSSIs decision to hold the congress was against the previous agreement reached between the PSSI and the Youth and Sports Ministry (Kemenpora) that the congress would be held in Jakarta, ANTARA learned here on Friday.

The previous meeting between representatives of the Youth and Sports Ministry (Kemenpora) and the PSSI was among others attended by the Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi, Acting chairman of PSSI Hinca Panjaitan, Secretary General of PSSI Azwan Karim and the election committee chairman Agum Gumelar.

However, based on the results of the meeting of the Executive Committee (Exco) of PSSI in Jakarta on Thursday night (Oct 13), the venue of the congress to elect the PSSIs chairman was diverted to Makassar.

"One of decisions reached at the meeting is to ask the PSSIs Secretary General (Azwan Karim) to communicate with FIFA and AFC that the congress will continue to be held in Makassar on Oct 17," Hinca Panjaitan stated.

Hinca further said, prior to the congress with the main agenda is to elect new management for the period of 2016-2020, his side will carry out its last meeting which was originally to be held in Makassar on Saturday (Oct 15).(*)
