Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo has appointed Special Autonomy Director General Soni Sumarsono as the acting governor of Jakarta.

The appointment comes after Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama and Deputi Governor Jarot Saiful Hidayat decided to go on leave from October 28, following his decision to join the Jakarta gubernatorial election race.

The acting governor would soon be officially installed at the ministrys office, Kumolo said here on Wednesday.

In addition to Sumarsono, the minister also appointed other acting governors, including Secretary General Yuswandi A Temenggung, Director General for Political Affairs and General Administration Sudarmo, Director General for Population and Civil Registration Zudan Arif and Director General for Community Empowerment Desa Nata Irawan.

They will be installed as acting governors of Bangka Belitung, Gorontalo, Aceh and Banten, where gubernatorial elections will be held during the simultaneous regional head elections (Pilkada) in February 2017.

Kumolo said he has signed the decrees and send the report to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Vice President M. Jusuf Kalla and Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto.

The Jakarta Election Commission (KPU DKI) officially declared the candidate ballot numbers in its plenary meeting at Jakarta International Expo here on Tuesday.

Three pairs of governor and vice governor candidates have received their ballot numbers for the Pilkada 2017.

The ballot number 1 goes to Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono and Sylviana Murni, ballot number 2 goes to incumbents Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok and Djarot Saiful Hidayat and ballot number 3 goes to Anies Baswedan and Sandiaga Uno.
