Padang, W Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Norwegian singer Audun Kvitland R'stad who creates a song called "Nasi Padang" will come to regale the audience in Padang city, West Sumatra, from December 1- 5, 2016 at the invitation the citys administration.

"Weve spoken to the Ambassador of Norway (about inviting Audun Kvitland)," the Head of Padang City, Mahyeldi Ansar, said here on Friday.

He observed that thanks to the song composed by Audun Kvitland, nasi padang (Padang boiled rice) is now well known globally, and inviting him would have a positive impact on tourism in Padang.

Mahyeldi added that Audun himself is also eager to return to publish Nasi Padang and other songs about West Sumatra.

His visit will be part of the efforts in this regard, including the Indonesian culinary festival to be held in Norway in January 2017.

"During the event, we will distribute leaflets carrying travel related information and explaining the potential of the city of Padang and West Sumatra," he noted.

Hasnul Badri (24), a Padang resident, appreciated the governments efforts to bring singer of Nasi Padang to Indonesia again.

"We are certainly pleased with the efforts of this government, because we will be able to meet with Audun himself. So far, we have only seen him on social media as he sang the song about Nasi Padang," he commented.(*)
