Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesia Ministry of Communication and Information has blocked 11 sites which allegedly contain issues related to discrimination based on ethnicity, religion, race and inter-group relations or widely known as SARA, which are seen to jeopardize the countrys unity.

"Its true, we have received demands to block 11 sites tonight," a spokesman of the ministry Noor Iza said here Thursday.

Earlier, he said, the ministry had blocked some sites, which contained SARA, on demand by some ministries and related institutions. The sites are considered as provocative, spread hate speech, and endanger the nations unity.

The latest move to block the 11 sites was made following demands of related institutions including the police and the National Agency for Combating Terrorism (BNPT).

The 11 sites are lemahirengmedia.com, portalpiyungan.com, suara-islam.com, smstauhiid.com, beritaislam24h.com, bersatupos.com, pos-metro.com, jurnalmuslim.com, media-nkri.net, lontaranews.com dan nusanews.com/

The ministry has also blocked some other sites, which have negative content.

According to the ministrys data in its official website, as of July, 770,504 sites were blocked, 86 of them were radical sites and 23 contained the issues of ethnicity, religion, race and inter-group relations and spreading hate speech.
