Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) visited the central executive board of Islamic organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) here on Monday evening to meet a number of ulemas.

During the visit, the president was accompanied by Minister/State Secretary Pratikno, an ANTARA journalist reported.

Upon his arrival at the office of the NU central executive board at 03.30 p.m., the president was greeted by secretary general of NU executive board H Helmy Faishal Zaini.

Chairman of the Indonesian Ulemas Council (MUI) Maruf Amin also attended the meeting between the president and the NU executive board.

Shortly after arriving at the office of NU executive board, the president held a limited meeting with the NU executive board.

Early in the day, Jokowi inspected the construction of Bekasi-Cawang-Kampung Melayu (Becakayu) toll road.

He said eight of 11 kilometers of the toll road is expected to be completed in March 2017.

Also on Monday, the president visited the Army Headquarters to give directives to 2,185 soldiers.

In his address to the soldiers in the yard of the Army Headquarters, the president appreciated all security agencies for their effort to guard the November 4 rally.

The head of state said the Indonesian Military (TNI) and the National Police (Polri) must continue to forge the national unity and cohesion.(*)
