Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla encouraged private businesses to participate in infrastructure development, as the government does not possess the ability to constitute everything on its own due to financial limitations.

"The government surely will not be able to handle everything due to financial limitations, which is why Public Private Partnership is required, so that responsibilities can be shared between the parties involved," the Vice President said, in his speech during the opening event for the 2016 ASEAN G28 Infrastructure Investment Forum in Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta, on Tuesday.

He further explained that the currently weak state of Indonesias economy requires a more active role of private entities in carrying out development in various sectors.

Kalla affirmed that the government was opening up a big opportunity for business makers to enhance their pursuit in the field.

Authorities are committed to come up with a solution, along with entrepreneurs, to resolve the issues in the business world, he added.

He said that infrastructure advancement can also set other economic sectors in motion.

The government will also take up projects that are not profitable in terms of business, including waterworks project, village roads and harbors in remote areas.

"Governments of all Asian countries, especially Indonesia, are opening up these immense opportunities in infrastructure works, including roads, harbors, airports, electricity and telecommunication, and everything will be mutually beneficial," he remarked.

The Vice President asked business makers to make use of this opportunity to bring good development for the country.(*)
