Lima, Peru (ANTARA News) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla arrived in Lima, Peru, on Friday to join the 2016 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit from November 19 to 20.

The Vice President landed at the ALAR 2 Military Air Base and was immediately greeted by a number of Peru government officials and Indonesias Ambassador to Peru and Bolivia, Moenir Ari Soenanda.

He then headed to a hotel in the Lima city center along with his entourage.

Vice President Kalla is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Vietnams President Truong Tan Sang and Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Peter ONeill.

"They had requested this bilateral meeting as we have the potential to compete with Vietnam," he said.

Meanwhile, Vice Presidents expert staff said a number of issues will be discussed in the meeting.

"Vietnams economic growth is more rapid compared to ours, so we might have a discussion around possibilities of cooperation, not just competition," he noted. (*)
