Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesias mens doubles players Kevin Sanjaya Sukamulyo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon emerged as the champion in China Open 2016 after beating Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen in the final round of the championship in Fushou, China, on Sunday.

Kevin/Marcus beat the Danish pair in a straight game 21-18, 22-20 in 49 minutes.

"We are very glad we could win a champion title. This is the fourth champion title we won this year after two super series and one grand prix gold champion titles we won before," Marcus said after the match according to the All Indonesia Badminton Association (PBSI) official website monitored by ANTARA.

The victory was a compensation for the loss they suffered from the Danish pair at Malaysia Open 2015.

"Of course we are glad to win a champion title from this super series premier championship. Step by step we could make the achievement. We must now work even harder," Kevin said about his win.

The Indonesian pair who was ranked seventh in the world almost lost the second set when Boe/Mogense equalized point collection at 20-20 before finally they could finish the game 22-20 in their favor.

"We felt it was more difficult for us to attack. The shuttlecock seemed to be different. We had to drive the shuttlecock more towards our opponents and to focus more," Marcus said.

At the semi-final round Kevin/Marcus defeated Rio 2016 Olympic bronze medalists Chai Biao/Hong Wei 16-21,26-24 and 21-19.(*)
