Manila, Philippines (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian national soccer squad moved to the semifinal of the AFF Suzuki 2016 championship after crushing Singaporean soccer team 2-1 (0-1) in the Ridzal Memorial Stadium, Manila, the Philippines on Friday night.

The countrys team (Timnas) move to the semifinal round became a certainty after Thailand defeated host Philippines 1-0 on Friday (Nov 25).

In the first round, the Indonesian squad lost 0-1 with Singapores Khairul Amri (19) scoring the lone winning goal in the 26th minute.

However, in the second round, Timnas Andik Vermansyah (21) scored the first goal in the 62nd minute, with Stefano Lilipaly finding the target again in the 85th minute.

Meanwhile, the single goal for the Singaporean squad was scored by M Khairul Amri (19) in the 26th minute.

In the first round, the Timnas actually got many chances to score goals, but were blocked by the Singaporean goalkeeper, Hassan Abdullah Sunny.

Timnas players included Kurnia Meiga Hermansyah (goal keeper), Beny Wahyudi, Muhammad Abduh Lestaluhu, Evan Dimas Darmono, Boaz T Erwin Solossa (captain), Stefano J Lilipaly, Bayu Pradana Andriatmoko, R Yanto Basna, Rizki R Pora, Fachruddin Wahyudi Aryanto and Andik Vermansyah.

The Singapore squad comprised Hassan Abdullah Sunny (goal keeper), M Syakir Hamzah, Madhu M Mohana, M Faritz Abdul Hammed, Muhammad Faris Ramli, Harris Harun (kapten), Daniel Mark Bennet, M Khairul Amri, M Safuwan Baharuddin, M Yasir Hanapi and Anumanthan Mohan Kumar.

In the previous matches, the Indonesian team was defeated by Thailand 4-2, and drew 2-2 with the Philippines.

Eight teams are participating in the AFF championship being held in the Philippines and Myanmar from November 19 to December 17, 2016.(*)
