Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Martial art fighters from 42 countries will take part in the 27th Martial Art World Championship in Bali to be held from December 3-8.

"Foreign participants have shown great enthusiasm for this event being held just before the advent of the New Year. Some of them have already arrived in Bali, landing here in the middle of November," committee chairman Edhy Prabowo said here on Wednesday.

Countries that have confirmed their participation in the event include the Netherlands, Germany, France, Italy and Belgium from Europe, and South Africa and Egypt from Africa.

Fighters from the US, Canada and Brazil will represent America while Asia Oceania will be represented by Japan, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Palestine, Israel and ASEAN member countries.

"We now need to coordinate with the board members of the Bali regional chapter as the host," he stated.

Indonesia hopes it will do well in the championship besides organizing it successfully.

Besides this championship, the Indonesian Martial Art Association also plans to hold Pencak Silat (Martial Art) Festival from December 6-8 and an IPSI conference from December 4-5 during which it will elect the new general chairman for 2016-2020.(*)
