New Delhi (ANTARA News) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and his Indian counterpart Pranab Mukherjee met in New Delhi on Tuesday to discuss relations between the two countries and efforts to improve the bond of friendship.

Foreign Affairs Minister Retno LP Marsudi said the two presidents discussed the history of relations between Indonesia and India and agreed to strengthen bilateral ties.

Retno noted that the meeting, which lasted some 15 minutes, was followed by the introduction of delegates from each country in the Ashoka Hall on the 2nd floor of the Rashtrapati Bhavan building.

Indonesias official delegation includes Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution, Minister/State Secretary Pratikno, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi, Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita, Industry Minister Airlangga Hartanto, Chairman of BKPM Thomas Lembong, and Indonesian Ambassador to India Rizal Wilmar Indrakesuma.

Retno remarked that Indian President Pranab Mukherjee at the meeting with Jokowi recalled the history of relations between India and Indonesia, which has lasted for a long time, even before the modern states were established up to the period of struggle against colonialism.

"The president of India focused more on the relations between Indonesia and India, which have been established for a long time," she stated.(*)
