Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received a courtesy call from South Korean legislators at the Merdeka Palace, here, Thursday.

The South Korean parliamentary delegation was headed by the nations House Speaker Chung Sye-kyun.

The head of state was accompanied by Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, Minister/State Secretary Pratikno, and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung while receiving the 11 South Korean lawmakers.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and South Korea in 1973, the countries have shared sound bilateral ties, and Indonesia is one of South Koreas strategic partners, Chung stated.

The trade balance between both nations and South Korean investment in Indonesia are quite big, according to Minister Marsudi.

Despite a sluggish trend due to the global economic crisis, the values of South Korean investment and the two countries bilateral trade remained high.

Jokowi has called on the legislators to help boost bilateral cooperation in the areas of trade and investment, the ministers said.

The South Korean members of Parliament have expressed support to forging closer ties between the two countries in various fields.(*)
