Medan, N Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Eight mild earthquakes measuring between 2.4 and 4.5 on the Richter scale, hit the districts of Karo and Deliserdang, North Sumatra Province, in the early hours of Friday morning.

The first tremor measuring 3.2 on the Richter scale was recorded at 12:19 a.m. local time, Syahnan from the Medan meteorology and geophysical office, stated here on Friday.

Other quakes occurring later include a 4.5 magnitude earthquake at 1 a.m. local time, another magnitude 3.4 quake at 1:16 a.m., a 2.4 magnitude earthquake at 2:24 a.m., and a magnitude 4.5 quake at 4:50 a.m.

Of the eight tectonic tremors, four were felt by the residents of Medan, the capital of North Sumatra. (*)
