"Yes, we questioned Satar for the first time as a suspect in an alleged bribery case today," KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) questioned former president director of Garuda Indonesia Emirsyah Satar for the first time on Friday as a suspect in an alleged bribery case.

"Yes, we questioned Satar for the first time as a suspect in an alleged bribery case today," KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah remarked here on Friday.

The KPK is seeking to trace the source of the bribe funds allegedly received by Satar in the procurement of 50 units of aircraft bodies and engines for the national flag carrier.

The KPK is probing to uncover who else received a share of the bribe funds, according to Diansyah.

Satar was charged with receiving graft worth around 1.2 million euro and US$180,000, or equivalent to Rp20 billion in cash and $2 billion worth of goods located in Singapore and Indonesia from a British company Rolls Royce for buying 50 units of Airbus SAS aircraft engine during the 2005-2014 period for the public-listed PT Garuda Indonesia.

Early this month, the KPK had investigated former executive project manager of PT Garuda Indonesia Agus Wahjudo.

Wahjudo denied receiving a share of the bribe money, saying, "No, no, I received no bribe."

Technical Director of PT Garuda Indonesia for the 2007-2012 period and Production Director of Garudas subsidiary PT Citilink Indonesia Hadinoto Soedigno were also scheduled for questioning at the time but did not show up on grounds of ill health.

The KPK had first received information on the alleged bribery from the British Serious Fraud Office and Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau, which charged Rolls Royce for bribing several airline companies of various countries, including Indonesia.(*)
