Palembang (ANTARA News) - The South Sumatra Culture and Tourism Office continues to renovate tourist attractions, particularly in the city of Palembang, as part of the preparations to welcome the Asian Games 2018.

"We have been restoring the tourist attractions here since the past two years and will continue to do so in our efforts to increase the number of tourist arrivals during the Asian Games 2008," Culture and Tourism Office Chief Irene Camelyn remarked on Friday.

Camelyn stated that numerous athletes and guests from countries in the Asian region will arrive in South Sumatra for the games, and they will certainly visit various tourist attractions in the city and province.

South Sumatra has several cultural, historical, and natural tourist attractions, such as the Kuto Besak Fort, Ampera Bridge, and Bukit Siguntang as a sacred place that bore witness to the Buddhist Sriwijaya Empire.

By renovating these tourist attractions, Camelyn expressed hope that they would be able to have a positive impression on the tourists arriving from various countries for the Asian Games 2018.(*)
