Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has picked five names to select a Constitutional Court justice to replace Patrialis Akbar who has been named a suspect in a bribery case.

Minister/State Secretary Pratikno said here on Monday President Jokowi will soon issue a decree to that effect.

"Soon after the president sign it we will announce them," he said.

On Thursday (Feb 16), the honorary council of the Constitutional Court (MK) decided that justice Patrialis Akbar has committed gross violation because he discussed a judicial review of Law No,14/2014 with businessman Basuki Hariman who has interests in it.

He also has leaked a secret draft of the courts verdict to his partner, Kamaludin, who later passed on the draft to Basuki.

Because of the gross violation, the honorary council discharged Patrialis dishonorably.

"The MK chief expects the (substitute) justice will be elected soon because MK will handle conflicts related to the recent regional head elections," Pratikno said.

As many as 101 regions held simultaneous regional head elections on February 15. Some candidates who lost in the elections will most likely file lawsuits with the MK against the outcome of the regional head elections.

Pratikno said the president has received a letter of recommendation from MK stating that Patrialis has been discharged dishonorably.

The president will soon sign a decree on the creation of a selection committee to select a replacement for Patrialis, he said.

However, Pratikno refused to divulge members of the selection committee.

"As usual, they will be credible persons," he said.

Earlier, presidential spokesman Johan Budi said the selection committee will be made up public figures.

"The selection committee will be made up public figures. The committee will involve PPATK (Financial Transaction Reporting and Analysis Center) and KPK (Corruption Eradication Commission), he said.(*)
