Tehran, Iran (ANTARA News) - Indonesian Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran Octavino Alimudin stated that the two-state solution will facilitate the process of resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and restore the occupied territories by the Israeli occupation to the Palestinian people.

"The two-state solution means there will be Palestinian state living side by side with Israel, and Israel acknowledges their existence," Ambassador Octavino told ANTARA here on Tuesday.

The ambassador added that the two-state solution will bring consequences to return all the Palestinian territories, including those that is being occupied by the Israeli occupation to the Palestinian people.

"The Palestinian territories must be returned to the Palestinian people like the ones before the Israeli occupation," the Ambassador said.

He asserted that the Indonesian government, including the Parliament actively bring the Palestinian issue in international forums in the United Nations and always supports the Palestinian struggle for independence from the occupation by Israel.

Recently, the Secretary General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul-Gheit stated that the two-state solution is required to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and bring peace to the Middle East Region.

Aboul-Gheit statement was delivered after a meeting with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, and one day after US President Donald Trump met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington, United States.

The Arab League leader reiterated the Arab position that urges the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the borders established in 1967 with East Jerusalem as the capital.(*)
