"We decided that for SIUP, they do not have to re-register. For company registration certificate (TDP), the law has stipulated that it has to be extended every five years," Enggartiasto stated.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government has revoked the obligation for entrepreneurs to extend their trading business license (SIUP), in a bid to improve the countrys rating of Ease of Doing Business (EODB).

Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita said here on Tuesday that in accordance with President Joko Widodos instruction and a meeting of the Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs, entrepreneurs were not required to extend their SIUP anymore.

"We decided that for SIUP, they do not have to re-register. For company registration certificate (TDP), the law has stipulated that it has to be extended every five years," Enggartiasto stated.

However, the government would simplify the process to extend the TDP, which could be done online or manually.

"We only need one sheet of notification. They dont have to fill in many forms, and it could be done online or manually, except if there are changes in names or others," he added.

The minister noted that the requirements to apply for SIUP and TDP might be different between local administrations, in accordance with the local regulations.

In the capital Jakarta, the licenses could be applied online and free.

Currently, Indonesia is ranked 91 in the Ease of Doing Business, up from its previous rate at 106.

The government has set its target to improve the rank to below 50.(*)
