Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Bank Indonesia Governor Agus Martowadojo, and Maritime Coordinating Minister Luhut Binsar Panjaitan held a meeting to discuss preparations for the International Monetary Fund-World Bank (IMF-WB) Annual Meeting 2018 on Friday.

Luhut was assigned to chair the national committee for the annual meeting to be held in Nusa Dua, Bali.

"We discussed preparations to be made by the national committee. Luhut will invite ministries and state institutions to discuss what preparations need to be made," Mulyani stated in Jakarta on Friday.

She said preparations covered various areas, such as location, activities, and the appointment of the event organizer.

The minister added that the national committee had obtained several inputs on technical matters related to the preparations.

The secretariat of the IMF-WB will also assist Indonesia in making preparations for hosting the event.

"The IMF-WB secretariat shared several technical inputs based on the experiences of various countries that have hosted the event. Hence, they told us something important that we did not know," Mulyani stated.

Indonesia will host the annual IMF-WB Meeting 2018. President Joko Widodo has urged his ministers to make necessary preparations for the annual meeting.

He emphasized that the meeting should serve as a momentum to demonstrate to the world the Indonesian economic condition that could grow well amid the slowdown in the global economy.

Indonesia will utilize the momentum to promote investment, trade, and tourism in the country.(*)
