Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla stated the Asian Games 2018 homestead athletes built by Indonesian government in Jakartas Kemayoran area will be inherited to the public following completion of the Asian Games.

"The athlete village (homestead athletes) will be used say only for a month or more for the implementation of paraolympic event, then it will be for the public, for instance in the form of subsidized apartment, well set it later," the vice president said after visiting the Kemayoran homestead athletes, here on Sunday.

Therefore, Jusuf Kalla, better known as JK reiterated the construction of an apartment complex consisting of seven buildings must meet quality standard and deadline.

"The quality along with the deadline is very important," he pointed out.

JK further said starting from inserting the first pole (of the athlete building) at the beginning of 2016 until today, the development process the Kemayoran homestead athletes had already met quality and deadline.

"We have met quality and deadline. So we are grateful to all parties ranging from ministers and workers here," JK said, adding the workers carried out their jobs until 01.00 at dawn local time.

Apart from that, the vice president also inspected the development of the renovation of Jakartas Gelora Bung Karno stadium in Central Jakarta which will be used as one of the venues for Asian Games 2018.

On Saturday (March 25), Jusuf Kalla as chairman of the Asian Games Steering Committee, confirmed that a total of 36 sports will be competed in the 2018 Asian Games.

He reiterated that the Asian Games should be based on cost efficiency of holding the event in accordance with the mandate of the Olympic Council of Asia, so that other countries are also able to host the Olympics.(*)
