"Whatever the outcome and whoever is elected, we should accept that person with an open heart," Jokowi remarked.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has expressed belief that the Jakarta run-off election on Wednesday will produce best and reliable leaders.

"I believe that the democratic election of the governor and vice governor of Jakarta will run smoothly and will produce best and reliable leaders for Jakarta," President Jokowi remarked shortly after exercising his right to vote at the Polling Station-IV of Gambir, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday.

The head of state noted that the political differences in the Jakarta gubernatorial election this time should not affect the unity of the nation.

"The differences in political choices should not break the unity of our nation because we are all brothers," the president emphasized.

He asserted that regardless of the result of the election and whoever is elected as the governor of Jakarta, the individual must be accepted by all with an open heart.

"Whatever the outcome and whoever is elected, we should accept that person with an open heart," he remarked.

A total of 457 voters were on the Fixed Selection List (DPT) at the Polling Station-IV in Gambir, where President Jokowi had cast his ballot.

President Jokowi was 218th on the list, while First Lady Iriana was 219th on the DPT.

President Jokowi and the first lady were present at the Polling Station-IV in Gambir at around 10:43 a.m. local time and only stayed for about 10 minutes at that location.(*)
