Sumenep, E Java (ANTARA News) - Sports minister Imam Nahrawi said here on Saturday that 61.7 percent of infrastructure preparations for Asian Games 2018 have been completed.

"We, along with related parties, have been very seriously preparing everything needed for the Asian Games 2018. For the time being, infrastructure preparations have been 61.7 percent finished and that is good," he said.

We have set a target to complete all the infrastructures for the Asian Games 2018 by Oct this year. Let us just wait," he stated.

The infrastructures will later be inherited to the next generation, he added.

The minister noted that Asian Games 2018 is a trust as well as challenge for Indonesians, adding that Indonesia had hosted the event in 1962.

"Under the context, it is actually the affair of all elements in Indonesia. It is not easy for a country to be nominated to become the host for Asian Games," he remarked.

In view of that, he called on all people for support so that the trust given to the country could be carried out well.

"Besides infrastructure, we have also been preparing the athletes to win as many medals as possible," he asserted.

The Asian Games 2018 is scheduled to be held in Jakarta and Palembang, Sumatra, from Aug 18 to Sept 2.(*)
