Surabaya, E Java (ANTARA News) - The Surabaya City Police in East Java have arrested all the seven detainees who escaped from a detention cell at the Tambaksari police station a week ago.

"In less than seven days, we have arrested all the seven detainees who escaped from a detention cell at the Tambaksari police station," Chief of the Surabaya City Police Senior Commissioner Muhammad Iqbal said here on Monday.

The last detainee who was arrested was identified by his initials as MS, he stated.

MS, who was suspected of theft, was arrested on Sunday night in his hideouts in Tangkep village, Burneh sub-district, Bangkalan district, East Java, he noted.

The other six detainees had been arrested earlier. They were identified by their initials as R, Sh, and Sa, who are suspects in a drug case; F, a suspect in a manhandling case; and J and BS, suspects in a theft case.

Iqbal praised his subordinates for their hard work which led to the arrest of the seven detainees in a week.

He set up four teams consisting of 70 personnel to hunt the detainees. The teams were led by the chief of criminal investigation unit and the chief of the drug investigation unit at the city police.

"In addition, the chief of the Tambaksari police station also led his men in tracking the detainees," he revealed.(*)
