Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) met four leaders of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) at the State Palace in Jakarta on Friday.

"The meeting is being held on the request of the KPK leadership," President Jokowi stated while opening the meeting.

In addition to KPK Chairman Agus Rahardjo, other leaders -- Alexander Marwata, Saut Situmorang, and Basaria Panjaitan -- attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, the president was accompanied by Minister of State Secretary Pratikno and Presidential Special Staff of Communication Johan Budi SP.

Jokowi noted that the government continues to support all actions of the KPK in its efforts to create a clean government that is not corrupt.

"The government needs the KPKs support to build a good government," he emphasized.

The government continues to implement good management practices and governance to meet societys expectations.

"The government is expected to serve the society quickly, not be corrupt, and be globally competitive," he remarked.

The meeting began at about 10:30 p.m. local time and took place in the main hall of the Merdeka Palace.

Media crews were only allowed to cover the opening of the event.(*)
