Jakarta (ANTARA News) - United Arab Emirates has expressed interest in cooperating with state oil and gas company Pertamina in managing oil and gas fields, the Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said.

While receiving UAE Energy Minister Suhail Mohammed Faraj Al Mazrouei and entourage, Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Ignasius Jonan warmly welcomed the plan which can be realized through a business-to-business (B-to-B) scheme.

"In the oil and gas sector, they are keen to establish joint venture or cooperation with Pertamina for the new working areas the government has assigned to Pertamina," Minister Jonan said at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry here on Thursday.

Jonan said Pertamina and Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) could jointly manage 10 oil and gas fields.

He expressed the hope that the two companies can jointly manage new oil fields outside Indonesia, including those in Africa.

"Hopefully, (the cooperation) could be realized as they believe production operations conducted by Mudabala Petroleum also prove very efficient," he said.

Meanwhile, Minister Suhail Mohammed said investment cooperation in the oil and gas sector and the non-oil/non-gas sector is promising.

"The potential investment we see with the delegation could reach US$5 billion. The investment will be made in the fields of port infrastructure, housing, energy, power plants, oil and gas and agriculture," he said.(*)
