Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The program and cooperation between Indonesia and Sweden to end violence against children are expected to serve as role models for other countries, such as Tanzania and Mexico, facing a similar issue.

"The Swedish delegation urged us to follow up with certain actions to help Tanzania and Mexico," Womens Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Yohana Yembise informed the press after holding a meeting with Queen Silvia of Sweden here on Tuesday.

Both Indonesia and Sweden are on the path to seeking cooperation for global child protection along with Tanzania and Mexico.

Starting with the cooperation between Indonesia and Sweden, Minister Yembise expressed hope that the four big nations would be able to serve as the worlds role models to end violence against children.

The minister said that Queen Silvia is a figure who has shown high interest and concern for child protection programs, including those carried out by the Indonesian government.

"The Queen wants to meet us from the ministry to look forward to how these two countries can cooperate on child protection," she noted.

Both the Indonesian and Swedish governments are committed to ending any form of violence against children, including physical, psychological, and neglect, as part of the 2030 Agenda.

The sustainable development goals emphasize that governments must eradicate violence against children by taking action to measure equity and examine the causes for taking preventive measures.(*)
