Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Police said here on Wednesday that no member of mass organizations would be allowed to join the police in law enforcement operations against immoral activities, alcoholic consumption, and use of narcotic drugs.

"No mass organizations will be allowed to conduct a sweep," Indonesia Police spokesman Inspector General Setyo Wasisto said.

He stated that community members could help the police by giving information regarding locations that are often used for conducting immoral activities, drinking, and use of narcotic drugs.

"If you have information, just give it to the police. The police will conduct the sweep," he noted.

The spokesman of Islam Defenders Front (FPI), Slamet Maarif, noted earlier that FPI was ready to help the police conduct a sweep against homosexuals in a number of locations in Jakarta.

"If the police ask for help, certainly we will do it," he remarked.

The police recently raided a location in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, on Sunday that had been used for a sex party by homosexuals.(*)
