Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Embassy in London has sent its staff to ensure the safety of Indonesian citizens in Manchester, England, following a suicide bombing at a crowded pop concert in the city.

The Indonesian embassy is working to ensure the safety of Indonesian citizens in Manchester after an attack that led to the deaths of 22 people, according to a press release from the Indonesian Embassy in London received here on Wednesday.

Indonesian Ambassador to the UK Rizal Sukma noted that the embassy had sent two staff members to Manchester to check the situation of Indonesian citizens.

The Indonesian embassy remarked that 59 casualties had been taken to eight hospitals across Manchester.

Currently, two staff members of the Indonesian embassy have also visited eight hospitals where victims are being treated in an attempt to check the safety of Indonesians, the ambassador pointed out.

Sukma emphasized that both staff have coordinated with the Manchester police and Indonesian Student Association.

"So far, no Indonesian citizens were killed or injured in the blast," he pointed out.

He called on Indonesian citizens to not visit event venues and crowded areas.

"The embassy condemned the terror acts in Manchester. Indonesians have been urged to follow the orders of the local government," the ambassador added.
