Jakart (ANTARA News) - A legislator has called on the people not to corner the State Audit Board (BPK) after two of its auditors were arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

"The BPK is a state institution which carries out auditing on ministries/insitutions," Mukhammad Misbakhun of Commission XI of the House of Representatives (DPR), said here on Sunday.

He said that if there is negligence of its auditors when carrying out their task, it should not be considered as an institutional mistake, but as individual one, the legislator said in a written statement.

According to Misbakhun, the arrest by the KPK of the BPK auditors who are negligence when carrying out their tasks, was not due to an institutional mistake but individual mistake.

He said that the BPK remains a valid and credible legal audit institution of the state. "I believe BPK institutionally is a credible body.

Misbakhun said that opinion which cornered the BPK is not true so that it needs to be straightened out.

He said that since the arrest of a BPK auditor by the KPK on Friday (May 25), there have been a number of comments which said that the unqualified opinion status issued by the BPK could be bought.

According to Golkar Party politician, the opinion issued by the BPK is based on its auditing on the performance of ministries and government agencies so that it is credible.

However, Misbakhun acknowledged that BPK is not free from weaknesses. Every system built must have weaknesses.(*)
