"The Indonesian community in Qatar is asked to remain calm but alert following the development of security situation around them," the press release stated.
Indonesias Ambassador to Qatar Muhammad Basri Sidehabi is coordinating with local authorities to ensure the safety and security of Indonesian nationals in Qatar.
"There is no need to take excessive measures, considering the situation in Qatar that is still safe and under control," Sidehabi stated while meeting the Indonesian community on May 5 in the city of Alkhor, which is about 60 kilometers away from Doha, Qatar.
The ambassador made the statement following the termination of diplomatic relationships carried out by five countries including Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Egypt and Yemen, with Qatar.
His visit to Alkhor is one of the effort to show the Indonesian community that the political and security conditions in Qatar is still normal.
Sidehabi, along with a number of embassy staff, also inspected the condition of a number of public places, including roads, shopping centers, and other crowded areas.
According to the information released by the Embassy of Indonesia in Doha, the political and security atmosphere is still conducive, and there are no signs of escalations in the situation.
However, there is an increase in the number of security personnel being deployed, especially in the places that are considered vital, including worship places, airports, stations, bus terminals, public facilities, and crowded shopping centers.
According to Sidehabi, the Indonesian Embassy in Doha had prepared anticipatory measures to foresee the security conditions in the field.
"The ambassador is the last person to leave Qatar. This kind of political condition has previously happened in 2014, and the public should not be worried," he remarked.
The Indonesian government had previously expressed their sympathy with regard to the political situation in the Middle East.
"Indonesia is expressing its sympathy and closely following the development in the Middle East at the moment," spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Arrmantha Nasir revealed on Monday.
The Indonesian government continues to emphasize on the importance for all countries to respect the principles of international relations, including by mutually respecting the sovereignty of each country and not meddling in the internal affairs of a nation.
Furthermore, the Indonesian government asked all parties to continue their cooperation in combatting terrorism and radicalism.
"Indonesia is asking all parties involved to unify their steps in combatting terrorism and contributing to maintaining regional and global security and stability," Arrmantha stressed.(*)
