Bandung, W Java (ANTARA News) - Indonesian Philately Association will publish 500 sets of limited edition stamps during the World Philately Expo, which will be held in Bandung of West Java Province in Aug 2017.

"The theme will raise particular topics, including rare orchids, press freedom, and others," the Chairman of World Philately Expo 2017 Avi Wijaya said here on Monday.

At least 52 delegations from 82 countries will join the expo in which the SMEs sector will also participate.

According to Wijaya, philately is an effort to educate the younger generation on how to recognize culture, history, national character, and nationalism.

The stamp collection can also revive historical events, such as Indonesias struggle.

Additionally, Soeyono, the Chairman of Indonesia Philately Association, stated that the expo will held with "The Bridge to the Peaceful World Through Stamp" as the theme.

The purpose of the expo is also to commemorate the Indonesian Proclamation Day and the anniversary of West Java Province.

The expo will also hold philately contests from around the world.

"At least, we will show 2 thousand frames of stamps of the nine classes from various themes," Soeyono added.(*)
