Cilacap, C Java (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian polices fingerprint identification team (Inafis) has conducted investigation at the location of a gas canister explosion at a Religious Affairs Office (KUA) in Sidareja, Cilacap regency, Central Java, in order to collect evidence.

Cilacap police chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Yudho Hermanto said here on Thursday that the Inafis team and Semarang forensic laboratory would help local police investigate the explosion that happened early on Wednesday, causing damage to the offices fence and shattering the windows.

"We are still investigating it. The Inafis team would seek fingerprints that might have been left at the location and other evidences as well," Yudho stated.

The police would probe the possibility of the intentional explosion of the 3-kilogram gas canister in front of the KUA office. According to Yudho, the police did not find any battery or cable circuit that could have been used as a detonator for the gas. But they found mosquito repellent incense allegedly used to spark the gas explosion. "Based on information from the forensic laboratory, there were no other things, such as nails or others but only pieces of the gas tube. We are still waiting for further information on the source of the explosion," he added.

The police have questioned 17 witnesses in the incident. "Four of them are staffs at the KUA Sidareja and 13 others are local residents."(*)
