Lin Ming Hui, a Taiwanese citizen who controlled the smuggling of the narcotics, was shot dead by the police for resisting arrest.
Serang, Banten (ANTARA News) - Personnel of the Jakarta and Depok Police have foiled an attempt to smuggle one ton of crystal methamphetamine from Taiwan and have arrested four Taiwanese in Serang, Banten Province, on Wednesday evening.

Lin Ming Hui, a Taiwanese citizen who controlled the smuggling of the narcotics, was shot dead by the police for resisting arrest, Inspector General M. Iriawan, chief of the Jakarta Metro Jaya Police, said here, Thursday.

The other suspects are Chen Wei Cyuan and Liao Guan You, who are currently being detained, and Hsu Yung Li, who had escaped arrest.

The illicit drug, which was smuggled into Indonesia by a small boat, was seized from the Mandalika Anyer Hotel, Serang.

The operation was successful owing to cooperation between the Indonesian and Taiwanese Police.

"This was the result of a field investigation in Jakarta. We then traced it, thanks to the cooperation with the Police of Taiwan," he noted.

The investigation was being conducted since two months and will continue, as one suspect is still at large.(*)
