Padang, West Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla inaugurated 11 new buildings of the Padang State University (UNP) as part of his work visit to West Sumatra on Saturday.

The 11 new buildings include the Rectorate, Auditorium, Business Center, Integrated Laboratory, and other buildings.

"A university should not go back to the past but be able to provide a futuristic ambience, so that the students can apply their knowledge in future," Vice President Kalla noted in his speech at the UNP.

The vice president said a college plays the role of providing knowledge to students and boosting their spirit since both are closely related.

Kalla and his entourage landed at the Minangkabau International Airport here at 8:45 a.m. Western Indonesia Standard Time and was greeted by the West Sumatra vice governor, Bukitbarisan Military commander, and West Sumatra police chief.

During the visit, Vice President Kalla was accompanied by Communication and Informatics Minister Rudiantara, Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial/Head of National Land Agency Sofyan Djalil, and Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reforms Asman Abnur.(*)
