I order an immediate settlement."
Yogyakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Tuesday ordered an immediate settlement of the case related to an acid attack on the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator Novel Baswedan in April this year.

"I order an immediate settlement (of the case)," he said after launching a Measles-Rubella Immunization Campaign at the state Islamic junior high school (MTsN) 10 in Sleman District, Yogyakarta Province.

Earlier, President Jokowi had summoned National Police Chief General Tito Karnavian to discuss follow-up action to handle the case.

Speaking in connection with what was discussed at the meeting, the president noted that the national police chief had made the outcome of the meeting public.

At the meeting, the president urged the police to settle the case soon, Karnavian stated.

He remarked that the police had taken several steps to solve the case.

Two men had reportedly attacked Baswedan as he was walking home after attending the dawn prayer at a nearby mosque at 5:10 a.m. local time at the Kelapa Gading housing complex in North Jakarta in April.

The attack resulted in injuries to his face and left eye, while the attackers were still at large.

Baswedan, who is currently handling high-profile corruption cases, has been frequently terrorized and attacked. In 2016, he was hit by a car while driving a motorcycle on his way to the KPK building.

The police have questioned at least 16 witnesses to identify the attackers.
