Palembang, S Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Minister of Womens Empowerment and Child Protection Yohana Susana Yembise has asked all provinces to build child-friendly areas as children are the next generation and a state asset.

During the declaration of child-friendly districts and cities in Palembang city, South Sumatra province, on Friday she stated that if the regions become child-friendly areas, human resources will be more qualified.

Furthermore, she stated all parties, especially the district and city governments, need to work hard to realize child-friendly places.

She added that many criteria must be fulfilled to realize a child-friendly region, including providing a playground for children.

Yembise stated that the efforts to realize the next qualified generation starts from the childrens families.

According to her, if the family is harmonious, then the next generation will be more advanced and will continue growing.

She stated the child-friendly districts and cities served as driving forces to create a generation of Indonesian youths who can achieve higher.

Therefore, she asked all parties to work together to guide the children to develop themselves.

South Sumatra Governor Alex Noerdin asked the districts and cities in the province to realize child-friendly areas.(*)
