Palangka Raya, C Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - Chief of the National Police General Tito Karnavian has instructed the National Polices Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) to help the Central Kalimantan Provincial Police probe the motive behind arson attack on eight school buildings here.

"The arson attack on several school buildings has drawn my attention to come here. Three arrested arson suspects will be flown (to Jakarta) for questioning at the National Police Headquarters on Thursday," Tito said after an internal meeting with the chief of the provincial police and his ranks and files here on Wednesday.

Tito said he learned the arson attack on several elementary school and vocational school buildings in the Central Kalimantan provincial capital of Palangka Raya from the chief of the provincial police.

He said the provincial police has arrested a number of suspects and interrogated three of them suspected of being mastermind of the arson attack.

"The case is still being processed. We cannot issue an official statement on the motive (behind the arson attack) now. To be sure, suspected arsonists have been arrested. Tomorrow we will take them to the National Police Headquarters. We will handle the case with the help of Bareskrim," he said.(*)
