Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Japanese government has provided US$100 million in bilateral loans for Indonesia Eximbank (IEB), IEB chairman Mahendra Siregar said.

The Japanese government`s assistance was provided through Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), which is a subsidiary of the Japanese Financial Institution on foreign affairs.

"The agreement for the loan was signed in Jakarta on Friday," Siregar said after the signing of the agreement.

He said that the loan was part of the agreement reached among G20 members which agreed to provide other members with a trade finance in an amount up to US$250 billion to give response to overcoming global financial crisis.

"The Japanese government has agreed to provide up to US$500 million where the disbursement of the remaining loans would depend on how soon the endorsement of the US$100 million would be carried out," Mahendra Siregar said.(*)
