Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has expressed his hope that the State Audit Board (BPK) could work without any obstacle.

BPK and the government should develop constructive institutional relations in order to guarantee that no budget funds were ever embezzled, the head of state said at the presidential office here on Tuesday when receiving BPK Chief Hadi Purnomo, his deputy and seven BPK members.

"We want national development to succeed. We will never achieve good development without resources, financial sources and budgets. Whatever we do will not bring sound results if there is mismanagement or corruption," he said.

Given the central role of BPK in the state`s financial management, he hoped that the agency could synergize its work with internal auditors of every state institution and regional governments, as well as with external auditors mandated under the Constitution.

BPK Chief Hadi Purnomo, meanwhile, said his agency was working with internal auditors of other state institutions to build a data center to support its auditing system.

The agency was also planning to develop an electronic auditing system to prevent auditing overlaps , he said.

In the future, BPK would also work in synergy with BPKP (Development and Finance Control Agency) to optimize auditing results between the two state auditing agencies, he said.(*)
