Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Several members of the Bibit-Chandra case fact-finding team (TPF) threatened to quit the team over disappointment President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and related authorities had not responded positively to the team`s recommendations.

Hikmahanto Juwana, one of TPF members, confirmed the threat when he arrived at the Presidential Advisory Team`s office here on Thursday to attend a TPF meeting.

"I feel our job here is useless since our recommendations about suspected criminalization of the KPK leaders were not responded to positively," Hikmahanto said.

The dean of the University of Indonesia (UI)`s Law Faculty said the TPF`s recommendations, namely suspension of National Police chief detective Susno Duadji, arrest of Anggodo Widjojo and release of two suspended Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputy chiefs Bibit Samad Rianto and Chandra Hamzah from police detention had failed to obtain a positive response from President Yudhoyono and the National Police Chief.

Therefore, Hikmahanto said, he considered the existence of the TPF to be no longer of any use. He added he would return the presidential decree naming him as a member of the TPF soon as part of his protest against the government`s attitude.

"I have the decree with me, and I will return it soon as a symbol of my protest," said Hikmahanto.

A similar statement was made by Todung Mulya Lubis, another TPF member.
"There is an expression of disappointment from the team because of reports Anggodo was released from police detention and Susno Duadji has yet to resign from his current position. We cannot understand why our recommendations which have become public knowledge were not responded promtply by the related authorities," Todung said.

Anis Baswedan, another TPF member, said he would withdraw from the team which had become "soft" in the public`s eyes. According to the rector of Paramadina University, the high commitment the related state officials had expressed earlier had not been met.

"In my view, the government does not show a desire to take concrete action. I suggest that TPF members resign from the president`s assignment," Anis said.

The TPF was scheduled to hold a meeting on Thursday morning to discuss the intention of some of its members to resign from the team.

According to the team`s original agenda for Thursday , it was to hold several meetings, namely with KPK officials at 10.00 a.m, with Bibit Samad Rianto and Chandra Hamzah at 01.00 p.m, with Anggodo Widjojo at 04.00 p.m, and with the National Police`s chief detective, Commissioner General Susno Duadji, at 07.00 p.m.(*)
