Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is to install new chiefs of staff, respectively for the army, navy and air force on Monday (Nov 9), the National Defense Forces (TNI) spokesman said here on Saturday.
The personnel changes in the highest posts of the three armed services had been planned for some time, and constituted a routine exercise, Commodore Sagom Tamboen, chief of the TNI Headquarters Information Service, said.
The position of army chief of staff would be transferred from General Agustadi Sasongko Purnomo to Lieutenant General Suryo Prabowo (the present deputy army chief of staff), that of navy chief of staff from Admiral Tedjo Edhy Purdijanto to Rear Admiral Agus Suhartono (the present inspector general at the Defense Ministry), and that of air force chief of staff from Air Marshal Subandrio to Air Vice Marshal Imam Sufaat (the present commander of Air Force Operations Command I).(*)
