Kuala Lumpur (ANTARA News/Bernama) - Some RM10.9 million (US$3.1 million) worth of orders were secured by 13 Malaysian automotive companies that took part in the specialized marketing mission to Jakarta, Indonesia from Oct 18 to 21.
Organised by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), an additional potential sales of RM31.25 million (US$8.9 million) were also reported.
MATRADE said the orders were for automotive gaskets, car accessories, car horn systems, car safety locking systems, electronic aerials, electronic lighting control devices, metal stampings, plastic injection mouldings and alloy wheel rims.
"The Indonesian automotive market provides a substantial export base for Malaysian companies to work on, especially in the areas of design, electronic parts, precision rubber parts and new technology, where Malaysian manufacturers have a comparative advantage," it said in a statement.
Aimed at encouraging synergies among industry players of both countries, the mission was organised as a result of the stimulus packages announced recently to facilitate Malaysian automotive sector to expand their market overseas particularly in Indonesia.(*)Editor: Aditia Maruli
