Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhyono should soon study the recommendations of the Fact-finding Team of Eight on the verification of the Chandara Hamzah and Bibit Samad Rianto case, a leading legislator said.

"The president should respond to the inputs presented to him by the Team of Eight because the case has become a public issue that must addressed urgently," House of Representatives (DPR) Deputy Speaker Pramono Anung said here on Tuesday.

Pramono expressed hope that the president would soon study the recommendations and then discuss them with the National Police and Attorney General's Office at one table.

"Legal and political matters should be separated. Lest the legal matter becomes a political issue," Pramono said, adding that the case of suspended Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputies Bibit and Charda had widened and tended to be politicized.

Earlier, on Monday night, the team submitted its recommendations to President Yudhoyono after concluding that there was no strong evidence against Bibit and Chandra.

On the occasion, Team of Eight chairman Adnan Buyung Nasation said that if Bibit and Chandra's legal case was brought to court with an accusation that they had misused their authority as KPK deputies, the proof to support the charge would be very weak.

For the accusation of extortion or bribery, Adnan Buyung Nasution explained that the accusation was limited to the flow of funds from Anggodo Widjojo to Ary Mulady.

In connection with the recommendations submitted to the president by the Team of Eight, Pramono opined that it should not be opened directly to the public before being reported to the president.

According to Pramono, the recommendations or conclusion of the Team of Eight submitted earlier to the president had caused pros and cons following the follow-up from the president.

"It will cause pros and cons if the president will follow it up or not. In addition, it will become a polemic for the law enforcers whether to implement it or not because they have the authority outside the recommendations from the team," Pramono said.(*)
