Denpasar (ANTARA News) - Vice President Boediono has said international market linkages were the key to the success of small and medium enterprises (UKM).

"The key to UKM success is the existence of wide market networks in major cities at home and abroad," the vice president said at the opening of an international seminar themed "One Village, One Product 2009 "(OVOP 2009) here on Saturday.

Speaking at the seminar attended by hundreds of participants from various countries, the vice president said the success of UKM products also depended on the existence of synergy among technology, design, and market.

"Therefore there should be a linkage among technology, design, and market because they are one package," Boediono said.

About the question of capital and funds, the vice president said there was no problem about it because the government would provide the UKMs with more credits at low interest rate.

Speaking about OVOP development, the vice president said it should be made through meticulous research with a real target on the kind of product which was suitable for a village.

In his opening address, the vice president said such a seminar was important for the participants to exchange knowledge and experiences for mutual support.

He said people would not make progress without exchanging knowledge and experiences with others.

Also present at the seminar were State Minister for Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises Syarif Hasan, Deputy Industry Minister Alex Retraubun, and Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika.(*)
