Bojonegoro (ANTARA News) - Forestry Minister Zulkifli Hasan together with local residents planted several species of trees in Ngunut village`s forest areas, here on Saturday.

"Java island is lucky because it has forest management firm (Perhutani) so that the condition of its forest is better than that outside Java," the minister said here on Saturday.

He said that forest damage in Java and outside Java should be restored with efforts involving local people. At the same time, Perhutani had to share its knowledge about forest management with parties outside Java.

"We are carrying out reforestation on at least 500,000 hectares of areas outside Java annually in an effort to implement our program for improving forest outside Java," the minister said.
