Taipei (ANTARA News/Asia Pulse) - China's largest retail chain is expected to buy NT$1.25 billion (US$38.9 million) worth of agricultural products from Taiwan through the end of 2010, the single largest such purchase made by a Chinese entity in Taiwan, the Council of Agriculture (COA) said Tuesday.
The commitment was made by a delegation of the All China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives.
COA Department of International Affairs head Chang Shu-hsien said the Chinese cooperatives agreed to buy 3,000 metric tons of fruit from Taiwan in the first half of 2010 and another 2,000 metric tons in the second half of the year, with a combined value of NT$200 million.
