Jakarta (ANTARA News) - State-owned electricity company PLN said on Friday that it had ended its rolling power blackouts in Jakarta and environs since Thursday.
Manager of PLN`s Power Distribution for Jakarta and Tangerang, W Budi Nugroho said here on Friday that the rotating power cuts could now be avoided with the participation of big customers to save their consumption up to 150 MW to 200 MW.
"Thanks to their participation to save up to 150-200 MW, PLN no longer imposes a rolling power outages since Thursday," he said.
The big consumers which had taken part in reducing their power consumption included Bogasari and Astra.
As a result of the disturbance in the PLN`s power stations in Kembangan, West Jakarta, in September and in Cawang, East Jakarta, the Greater Jakarta and its vicinity experienced a deficit of power supply amounting to 800 megawatts.
Consequently, PLN has to rotate the cutting of supplies to their customers in Jakarta since the past several weeks.(*)
